Blepharoplasty Case 1
A 65 year old woman states "My eyelids make me look tired." This is a very common complaint. The patient said her eyelids are heavy and wanted surgical correction. During her evaluation, it became evident that although there was excess eyelid skin, her eyebrows had fallen over time. In addition to removing a small amount of skin in her upper eyelid, her eyebrows were elevated into a more aesthetic and youthful position.
Blepharoplasty Case 2
This 55 year old woman was concerned with the excessive "bags" under her eyes. The root cause of her complaint was not only the excess eyelid skin and fat, but also a deficiency in fullness of her cheeks. Her upper and lower eyelids were treated as well as placement of cheek implants.

This 62 year old female was given a well defined lid crease under sedation. Although some bruising is expected, Dr. Diepenbrock uses a radiofrequency device rather than a traditional scalpel to makes all of the incisions. This device helps control bleeding, make precise incisions and reduces post-operative bruising and swelling. The full brow with a well defied eyelid crease is a sign of youth and beauty. The upper eyelid blepharoplasty opens up the eyes. A small amount of fillers in the lower eyelid helps to camouflage bags and a tired look.

A 73 year old woman complained of "heavy eyelids". After removal of skin, muscles and a small amount of fat, she was very pleased with her final results. For many people, the eyes are the focal point of the face. Eyelid surgery renews the area around the eyes by removing redundant skin and deeper tissues which are affected by age. Each eyelid is different and requires individual attention.
Blepharoplasty Case 5
56 year old female who was "tired of looking tired". In addition to the notably heavy upper eyelids, her eyebrows were low giving the appearance of even more excess eyelid skin. To fully rejuvenate the area around the eyes, a concomitant brow lift, upper eyelid blepharoplasty and lower eyelid chemical peel were completed. The result is a dramatically refreshed appearance.

This patient came to see Dr. Diepenbrock after upper and lower eyelid surgery on two occasions by another surgeon. He remained unhappy with the excessive skin in the lower eyelids. He underwent revision lower eyelid blepharoplasties to include removal of skin and muscle, fat sculpting and laser resurfacing.

Not all blepharoplasties are done for cosmetic purposes. Often times, the excess eyelid skin may affect your vision, especially peripherally. Under certain circumstances, blepharoplasties may be covered by insurance.
